For the moment try some Ibuprofen (for some reason I find they work better than paracetamol for toothache) and make an appointment tomorrow ! Why suffer ?
Taking paracetamol and ibuprofen together (assuming no medical contraindications e.g. allergy, other medicines etc..)
is an effective way to manage dental pain until you can see a dentist because the two combined have a synergistic effect., i.e. the pain relief is essentially amplified.
One way to take them is have paracetamol and then two hours later take ibuprofen and so on (being careful not to exceed the maximum dose, doing so has no greater therapeutic benefit and simply risks liver damage)

Ibuprofen works different;y to paracetamol in that it reduces swelling which is something that contributes to toothache. I would echo what others have said, you need to work with both brufen and paracetemol for the best result, but if you only take one type of painkiller - make sure it is brufen (ibuprofen).
Oh poor ethanryan.... sod's law working there - an appointment you really needed asap and it gets cancelled... doh ! I would have gotten a tad angry at that. Whilst waiting for root canal treatment last year, I had really bad toothache and when the painkillers just didn't seem to work (except take the edge off of the agony) I used Anbesol - a local anaesthetic - which I bought at the pharmacists. I also found that rubbing a little sensodyne toothpaste into the gum around the offending tooth helped numb it a bit.
