white sticky stuff in my eye making my eyes very sore what is it?

I've been to the docs and they won't give me anything as i am 19 weeks pregnant, i get it all year round, The best way to describe it is i thin film appears over my eye and i rub it and it gloops up and i have to pick it out, i have washed my makeup brushes, chucked out all old eye makeup and i don't share makeup etc, but this problem won't go away, the docs just shrug their shoulders and say they dont know what it is... i've made the inner eyelids bleed before through rubbing it so much, i can't stop rubbing them as they itch so much and feels like something is in there... please any advice welcomed x

Try going to your opticians. They might be able to help.

certainly sounds like conjunctivitis which is usually treated with chloramphenicol eye drops which are not recommended in pregnancy. However to aid recovery bathe eyes each day with a very weak solution of baby shampoo diluted in cooled boiled water to help with the itching.

Could be an allergy, I have a similar problem and it's treated with an anti histamine. Try a herbalist for something that won't affect your baby. The tip about baby shampoo is a great one, I use that too.

Please be careful using any herbal remedies. Too many people think that just because something is 'natural' it is safe......which is a mis-conception. You would be better off going to your pharmacist,who can reccomend a suitable treatment.

hiya deedee24, can i make a suggestion that you refrain from using eye makeup in the meantime. As this may be a factor.
