Cortisone Injections

I need to have cortisone injections in both heels in a few days. Has anyone had this done, and if so, can you tell me what to expect in the way of pain/discomfort and mobility afterwards? Many thanks.

Hi joeyjake, never had them in my heels but have had them in my back a few times, and they were amazing, I was in such pain,took a couple of days to really kick in but felt slightly better the next day, no discomfort at all, and the doctor said it would hurt when he did them, but it was nowhere near the pain I was feeling in anyway, and the needles are getting finer and finer, so just go for it, good luck, I don't think it will hurt much, and it will help you, Ray

A work colleague recently had one in her ankle. She said she felt no pain when the cortisone was injected, but the day after, the site area of the injection was quite painful.

She was told to rest her ankle for a few days, but due to the nature of our jobs, she is unable to do this and has still been walking around and even exercising. She may have to have 2 further injections over the next couple of months.

ive had them in both shoulders, i didnt feel any pain, yes u should rest for 48 hrs not sure why but im sure its to keep it moreorless where they injected it so itll work....
good luck, btw im only allowed 3 in each shoulder a year, but i wish it was alot more, it only lasts me about 5 weeks... for me to want it means i cant be a bad thing..lol

I had one for tennis elbow, it will hurt for a wee while but, trust me, it's not as bad as a traumtic toenail amputation

Sometimes fear of the unknown makes you think the worse. Like you say Ray, they can't be worse than the pain already being experienced !

Can I just ask why you have to have these injections? as I have never heard having them in the feet. Thanks
