have just been diagnosed with this but no medication at present until further tests, is there anyone out there with this problem that can give me any advice?
Hi shaking! I feel for you xxx I had an overactive thyroid back in the 80s. I have been on Thyroxine ever since. You no doubt have lost weight? & are on the go? Have you any symptoms with your eyes? xxx
I have underactive shaking and take levothyroxine
.Thing is with thyroid levels if you are borderline they are loathe to prescribe because it can make you more hyper .They have to get the dosages correct .
They will probably moniter you to see how your levels are over a period of time .It took six months of tests before they decided I had thyroid problems and got me on medication.Hope they can sort you out and that you soon feel better ..
Have a look at the Bupa factsheet Here
thanks both, have definitely lost weight but am feeling so lethargic, thought I would be hypo with an overactive thyroid, have to have more blood tests in 6 weeks, don't want to feel like this for that length of time.
shaking - Yeah I know, no matter how much sleep you have, you never feel refreshed do you? It's not nice I know! I do hope you are treated very soon xxx
Hi shaney! xxx
Hmm ..my sister had an overactive thyroid and she was like hell on wheels ..many years ago now ..she's been passed away for over ten years .
But ..she had the bulging eyes etc and could not sit still for five minutes and was as skinny a rake .She used to be really jittery.
My symptoms on the under hand were lethargy and weight gain, dizziness (nothing new...lol ) hair loss, crumbly nails and a general can't be arsed feeling .
It is horrible but bear with them ..it does need to monitered carefully .Take care
