Stroke symptoms?

Does anyone know what the symptoms of a mild stroke are? I'm wondering if my 82 year old mother has had one.

Thanks, I've read lots of things regarding Strokes, but can't find anything regarding symptoms of a mild stroke.

We thought my Dad had Alzheimer's and were told recently that he hadn't, thank God, but a series of tiny strokes have wiped his short term memory.
My Mum had a small stroke. One side of her mouth turned down at the corner and her speech was sometimes slurred.
My Dad is 81 and my Mum was 78. She passed away last October but it was heart trouble.
I hope your Mum recovers soon. It's very worrying, I know.

My mother has heart problems too and was in hospital a couple of months ago. My partner spoke to her on the phone briefly yesterday and said she sounded slurred. Her shorterm memory has worsened and she keeps repeating herself and asking the same things over and over. She seems different since she came out of hospital.

I didn't like it when the hospital put my Mum on Warfarin. She always seemed much worse for them fiddling around with her medication. However, she had a very serious heart attack at 58. (She never smoked or drank). But, the upside was that she managed another 20 years because of medication, so I can't complain really.

I guess I'm lucky I've had her in my life for so long, others aren't so fortunate. She had me late in life and I never thought she would live into her 70's let alone 80's as she's had various helth issues.

My Mum had me quite late too. The worst part now is when Dad falls asleep on the sofa. Often he wakes up and goes looking for her and asking where she is. Having to persistently remind him is awful, for him, not me. I don't mind, but I hate to see him constantly in tears. He remembered a dream recently and he was looking for white flowers for her. We've started to put some in the house as often as we can - I can take a hint, Mum! Sorry if that sounds a bit daft.

Could you take her for a general check up as they should be able to tell.

I've had symptoms which can mimic parts of a stroke and have had to go and get checked over in casualty a couple of times to make sure it wasn't so there must be some way of telling.

my dad had had a couple strokes when he was alive. due to immediate treatment he recovered from them. don't delay with your mum. get her to the doctors yesterday. with immediate treatment there's chance of recovery. all the best to you and your mum.

I sympathize. My Mum had a slight stroke about five years ago in her late 70's. She's now on Warfarin. It was only slight and she recovered but like you,I saw the difference as soon as she went home from the hospital. She too tends to repeat herself,talks over me and little things she didn't do before. She's also become even more anxious and easily stressed than she was before. Hope your Mum is okay.
