underactive thyroid
1 Answers
I have been taking Levothyroxine for many years and although my blood levels are checked regularly and are found to be within the required measurement I still seem to experience many of the symptoms of underactive thyroid. The most worrying is hair loss. My hairline has receded at least an inch and around my ears. I have been told that there is an alternative to Levothyroxine but that GPs won't prescribe it. Does anyone take it or know of it?

I know of no other treatment. Patients with hypothyroidism a e often told that their symptoms of weight gain, lethargy, voice change, dry skin etc etc will disappear after effective treatment....NOT NECESSARILY so.
