My 11 year old son was given the first dose of his flu jab yesterday after school. He will have the second dose in 4 weeks time. When he came home from school today he was complaining he had a headache. He felt a bit warm, so I gave him parecetamol. I presume this is from the jab, but the site of the injection is very red, swollen and hot to the touch. I have marked the edge of the swelling to see if it gets any bigger. Is this a normal reaction?
Good morning Daffy. Thanks for your reply. He is feeling better this morning. The swelling has started to go down too. The nurse told us that he would have the jab in two doses because he is under 13.
It's odd to have a side effect so soon , it's usually a day or so after . It may be a reaction to the vac , go to his gp if you're still worried poohshunny . I haven't heard of this either.

Hi gelda and bigmamma. My son is athsmatic and has already had 2 bad colds this year. Each time he has a cold, his chest gets really bad. We have been trying a new preventer to help control it, which thankfully seems to be working. It was on the advice from the GP and athsma clinic nurse that he had the flu jab.
