Swollen lip

My son woke up this morning with a very swollen top lip. He has no other symptoms and says it doesn't hurt.
Any ideas what it could be?

I was sent for allergy testing but the doc said to me that there was probably no point in doing any actual testing because it could be absolutely anything (helpful....not!).
On my own, I have narrowed it down to something that is used in packaged meat products - and it's not always used in the same product. So sometimes I'll have a slice of ham from Tesco (for example) and I'll be absolutely fine and another time, I'll have the same ham from Tesco and it will have an adverse affect.
It may be that your son has developed this allergy over time.....I didn't develop mine until I was nearly 30! Unfortunately my allergy seems to be getting worse and I will be going to see my doc to see if he has any advice.
I don't know what to say really - it might be worth getting it checked out with your doctor but to be honest, I just treat mine with Piriton and hope that it goes down quickly.
When my lip gets very swollen, it can be a bit sore and it also gets quite hot. When it goes down, it does leave a very strange sensation - and hot drinks are a definite no for a day or two! I hope for your sons sake this is a one off.

He had a hot dog at Alton Towers yesterday. Something I can never remember giving him before. We all had them but both Owen and I threw ours away after a few bites. The other two thought they were nice......It could be that. It's almost back to normal now though.
Thanks Kate. I have an adversity to junk food anyway so I'll pretend it's that!!!!!
