Absolutely - dark blood is usually arterial, as oppsed to blood from veins which is bright red.

Any bleeding from the rectum should be investigated, so go to your GP and have it looked at as soon as possible.

B the time intestinal blood reaches the rectum and into the faeces, it is dark, whether venous or arterial. However bright red blood indicates it comes from rectum or anus and can be caused by bleeding piles. However, on balance. Ethel's reply is probably correct.
