Blood in stools / poo

I'm hoping someone can shed some light for me please. My son (almost 3) has been getting blood in his stools. He is not constipated & stools appear fairly soft, but firm. It has been like bits of red jelly in the poo, as well as the end of the poo (the last bit to come out) being red in colour.

Sometimes blood is on tissue after wiping, other times not.

He had this a few weeks ago & dr gave him Movicol (even though not constipated)

My son had this many years ago and eventually was hospitalised where they found the cause to be an allergy to dairy produce. Hope this helps

It sounds as if he has an anal fissure - a little tear which bleeds when he go to the toilet.

Best get him to the doctor

Anal fissure in this age group is usually painful and is usually associated with constipation. The fact that the stools have blood like "red currant jelly" would suggest that he is bleeding higher up than the anus and rectum.
Try Meckel.s Diverticulum in Google search. Not serious so don�t panic.

I took son to see Dr & she thinks it could possibly be a vein that has pressure put on it sometimes when he goes to toilet, hence making it bleed. They are going to refer him to see a paediatrician. Hopefully, they'll find out what prob is.
