carvonia tates of pants but should do the trick
Is it a productive cough? Do not suppress it, drink lots of water o keep it hydrated
General Sales cough mixtures are nothing more than placebo's and do no good whatsover - you are better to spend money on a packet of boiled sweets to keep your throat moist
If you want help sleeping, buy an OTC medicine for colds such as Night-Nurse
See your GP if you have had this cough for more than a week, it may be in infection that needs anti-b's
i don't believe any cough medicine actually works and refuse to pay the ridiculous prices for them. if you google 'do cough medicines work' you'll come up with a load of information about the various types and then make up your mind about them.
The answer lies somewhere between pink-kitten's answer and ethandron's answer. If it is productive, it should not be suppresed and if it is non productive, particularly at night, it should be suppresed.
Night Nurse contains a suppressant, Day Nurse an expectorant. But bottom line is that it may persist for weeks.
Covonia is good.

Someone gave me these cough drops which came in a aromotherapy type bottle. You can get them from chemists and just put some drops in warm water and drink, worked a treat.

Will see if I can find what they're called.
Aha, Weleda Cough Drops.

Bless ya! I was dubious about them but one of the secretaries at my old work got me on them as I had an awful cough and was really impressed!

I couldn't find them on Boots or Holland & Barrett sites, mine were from the chemist as per the link as they do a lot of herbal stuff. Will have a scout around though.
