I'm in agony with sciatica. Taking strong pain killers from Doctor haven't helped. Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Sorry Linda, I don't know. Except, have you tried a TENS machine to help with pain relief?
I don't know what "strong" pain killers you have been taking nor who has given them to you, but if they are not working, then call your Dr. as you may need traction if he feels that you have slipped a disc.
Hi I also suffer from Sciatica, It's started back up again the last couple of days so I've either lifted something or after the icy mornings, I nearly slipped the other day and somehow managed to keep myself upright, so I think thats caused it again! I do feel for you, because its painful, been up at 5am last couple of mornings, could'nt either turn over in bed or sit up. Been taking Liquid ibuprofen capsules and rubbing some deep heat or tiger balm onto my back and trying to take things at a slower pace when walking. I do feel for you, no one understands how painful it is until its expierenced.
Ask your doc. for NAPROXEN,I too suffer badly and they work for me.
good luck x
Naproxen don`t work for me but it really is trial and error good luck is a bu gger

This is a weird exercise but it opens up the channel that the sciatic nerve runs thro which because the nerve is inflamed is causing it to rub and get more sore ( thats how my back man explained it to me anyway)
SO lie on your back with your bottom as close to wall as poss and shufle your bottom to wall so your legs are straight up the wall and you are at right angle, rest there for 10 mins. OR if you have someone you trust get them to be the wall and apply GENTLE pressure against your straight legs. It works for me but please be very careful only you know your limits. repeat at intervals. Ibuprofen gel is excellent to relieve inflammation.
Are you any better. Did the doctor help if you went back?
A TENS machine'll make you feel much better afterwards, but you have to also get as much rest as possible. hope you soon feel better.
