There just aren't the resources to send everyone who has continuous "niggling" things for scans and so on - unfortunately - so the best thing to do now, is to support your son during any treatment he has. I know a little boy who contracted testicular cancer. He spent years in and out of hospital, and finally had to have both testicles removed. He also underwent chemo and other unpleasant things, but today, he's back at school and there's no sign of the cancer returning. He knows he'll never have children, but it's a small price to pay. Best of luck to you all. x
My Brother was 21 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. that was 20 years ago and he is healthy and clear of Cancer.
He wasn't as sensible as your Son though, as he knew he had a lump but was too afraid to get it checked out. Because of this he was rushed to hospital in agony and unfortunately because he left it for a long time, the cancer had spread to his liver, stomach and lung. But!, after lots of Chemo and operations he pulled through and has now become a Pilot. I believe that age was on his side and I believe the same for your Son. And of course after 20 years treatment for Cancer has improved greatly.
It will be hard for all of you now but be strong as it is treatable.
The only downside for my Brother is that he cannot have children. But you can request that they freeze healthy sperm and use this in the future if your Son wishes.
I wish your family all the best.
