When I last saw my GastroEnterologist(last August) to check on my Hiatus Hernia he suggested I (at 86!) should have a Gastroscopy (camera down the food tube).
I told him I didn't want one for two reasons. One at my age It really wasn't worth it,and two I just didn't like the thought of it!
Imagine my surprise on Monday to get a letter from the hospital giving me a date in March for a Gastroscopy.
I rang the hospital and cancelled it,but not before the receptionist got all stroppy!
When I drew her attention to my age(I sound much younger on the phone LOL) she backed down.
Was I right to refuse?
I feel that younger people (like chrisrob) should get the attention. So I have a Hiatus Hernia, thats all, not bad for my age, and I keep it under control with Omeprazole.

Mr Veritas, a medical opinion is just that....an opinion and you have the right to ignore it or take it.
Good for you Mr Veritas.
I would have done the same thing Mr Veritas.

86 eh - you sound much younger in your postings! ;o)

Am I right in thinking you are a friend to Mr Pickle. If so, please send my regards.

Apologies for high-jacking your thread Mr Veritas, but I need advice from lofty.

Good morning my love..some time ago you were banned and had to come back as lofty2. Well, last weekend my answers were blocked for ?no apparent reason and got no reply from the Ed to my email. Why were you blocked and did you get a response from the Ed?
Hi Squaddy (apologies Mr Veritas)

I wasn't banned. I had had an ongoing problem with logging in for at least a year. I would put in my details, log in and just get redirected back to the page I was on. If I put in the wrong details I would get a message telling me as much, but if I put in the right details nothing happened. It was very hit and miss. Some days I couldn't get in at all and on others there was no problem.

So, I decided to change my user name, and guess what, I still have the same problem!! So I now have a choice between the original LL and version 2 LL, (or on some occasions neither LL can log in!)

A year or so ago the Editor then told me it was a problem with my computer, but my computer whiz kid and expert son says that is rubbish!!

Off to the local nursery for some hedging plants. Yippee spring has arrived.

xx

Thanks lofty.

I will pass that on to Pickle when I see him next Lottie.
As he has had ECT (Electro Convulsive Therapy) he is a bit zombified at the moment (he is still in hospital),he doesn't really know what is going on,but names from AB might register.
My thanks on his behalf.
I agree with U Mr V....if you can live with ailments, then do. Mind over matter works for me. The medics keep changing opinions on exploratory testing, make errors on ops etc - my life in their hands......no way!
FAO Mr. Veritas. I agree you should do what feels right for yourself. A gentleman friend of ours has reached the age of 105 and is still doing well. Hope to have you around for a long time yet. Please pass on my regards to Mr.Pickle next time you see him.
