Weeping Ezema on head

I am being driven mad at the moment by ezema on the back of my head. It is weeping all the time and itches like mad. The doctor has given me some shampoo for it but it just dosent seem to be getting better. At night it makes my hair soaking wet and stuck to the back of my head. Even though I have washed it it is still weeping and making my hair stiff.
Has anyone else had it and could tell me how long it lasts until it starts to get better and stop itching so much.?

My husband suffers too with ezcema, so I sympathise with you greatly. I have just asked him what he used and his doctor gave him something called Betacap scalp application. He also suggests you try taking a piriton before bed which he has found helped with the itching.

tillyh345 many thanks for your reply. I will look up Betacap and try a piriton tablet. It is so horrible how my hair is looking at the back of my head , more so on the neckline and with my hair being short it looks awful how it is all stuck together and dripping every now and again. Although it is Mothers day today I felt awful about going out and anyone seeing it. My husband took me for a meal early this evening and I made sure I sat in a corner so noone had to look at it.

Woke up this morning with yet another headache and very swollen glands in my neck, one side is like a large marble. Doctor said I have an infection in it now, So have to have antibiotics. It is driving me insane.!!

I foudn that when I had the scalp application it really made my head sting and didn't seem to make a big difference but I can vouch for the piriton as tillyh says.

Another thing I did was soak my hair in olive oil and sleep with it in one of those towelling things didn't improve the ezcema much but it did stop the itching and people kept telling me how glossy my hair was.

lilacben u poor thing Yes my husbands head usually ends up infected unfortunately, it is miserable isnt it. Hope it starts to feel better soon x I think u just have to keep going back to the doctors and see if there is anything else you can try. I am not sure how effective it is but I have read that having a water softener added to your water supply if u r in a hard water area does help with skin conditions.

I have to say when I'm abroad even if I've gone out of season ie no sun that my head seems better so maybe that could be the water as I'm in the shower alot and wash my hair more often.
