mrsa

Had some swabs taken for this but unsure why - my consultant had just ordered an MRI scan.
He's not very approachable so I didn't like to ask why and the nurse who took it said Mr S has ordered it.
Do they think I am carrying MRSA? I've been into the hospital before and never had them taken abit confused really as I thought it was only done if you were having an op.

Hi CC i am a nurse in outpatients, We routinely take swabs for mrsa from patients having a procedure done ie: going under the knife, but not for havivg a scan, i can't understand why they took a swab from you? see if you can ring the dept you went to ask to speak to a nurse and say you thought swabs were only taken for patients having surgery, some consultants do think they are god & are unapproacable grrrrrrr!! Don't worry though it may just be how they work in your hospital xxx
