I have regular bouts of oral thrush. I take a Canistan tablet and it goes in a couple of days but..... Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it without having to buy the tablet (12 each) and how I could stop it flaring up in the first place. My doc says it's because I have to use several inhalers a day.

I guess you could try eating live natural yoghurt, which could help.
12? Why can't you get it on NHS prescription.
Sainsburys do there own brand of tablet, exactly the same as Canesten, did the job, but alot cheaper. Last one I bought was around the 4.50 mark. Like any medicine, you pay for the brand.

Thank you all for your replies - Squad.. my doc won't prescribe the tablet (too expensive I guess) only the liquid to hold in the mouth, sadly this gives me the trots!
Icemaiden - I went to Lloyds chemist today and their own brand was 10 so I'll definitely give Sainsburys a go.
And thanks Velvetee I'll try that for sure.
masma...that is unacceptable, if you cannot take one form of the drug due to side effects, then he is duty bound to prescribe am alternative presentation of the same drug.

Put this point to him and if hr declines, then appeal to the appropriate body for a decision.

Thanks for that Squad I'll certainly give it a try.
