OMG SERIOUSLY! Blackeyed the thyroid gland is a gland that sits in our lower throat and controls (amongst other things) metabolism. I have an unusaully large Thyroid (lump in my lower throat) but, it causes me no problems. My husbands is underactive which makes him sluggish tired and prone to put on weight. He takes thyroxine every day which combats these symptoms. An over active thyroid make you alert, jumpy, anxious and lose weight and the treatment is a lot more complicated and can invlove radiotherapy. These are basic terms and you really need to ask your GP whats going on. Apart from extreme surgery, your thyroid is not going away!!!
