Thanks.
Never heard of it, although the word "Anembryo" means without an embryo.

Are you referring to a phantom pregnancy, which is well know and well documented?

Thanks Sqad. I now know its called a blighted ovum. Its not a phantom, its a real pregnancy but there is no baby. Worth reading about. I thought I knew all about pregnancy but had never heard of this condition.
lynn...thanks will do so.
lyn....yeppp...been reading it up. It seems to be a type of miscarriage.
Hi Lyn

Before I had my daughter I had four miscarriages and the last one was diagnosed as a Blighted ovum as I was scanned before I miscarried. Basically you concieve, the egg implants in the womb and a sac grows but there is no baby inside. I know that I never got past 7 weeks before bleeding began. My consultant contended that it was very common and although couldn't over any explanation believes that it acount for at least 50% of miscarriages.

So as squad says it does result in miscarriage but to the person living it, it is a very real confirmed and lost pregnancy.
