Hi

I had liver resection surgery 10 weeks ago (for an adenoma). My incision is back to front "L" shape.

I have become swollen and sore where the two incisions of the "L" meet. I had an ultrasound which found an old haematoma (I assume this means its no longer bleeding) and luckily it is not infected.

The doctor told me my body should just be able to absorb this itself and nothing more is needed to be done (providing infection stays at bay).

I was wondering how long this takes? Its very painful and I want it absorbed now!

How long will it take to reabsorb?.....how long is a piece of string? Depends upon, size, site, and many other factors.

You have 2 choices:

1) Wait
2) Ask to have it drained.
