Swine-flu jab
7 Answers
I had mine yeaterday and felt fine until last evening when I felt as if I was about to go down with a severe bout of it, so about 10pm I went to bed with a hot water bottle, shivering like the devil on an ice-cube, and had quite a bad night, but to-day I`m feeling `Tickity Boo` again. Has anyone had any problem with theirs?

Zac....I am not an expert on virology, but I do not think that the swine flu vaccine contains either the live or attenuated virus....it certainly doesn't contain the live virus.
In my idea, I feel that the DNA of the H1N1 virus is worked out and is incorporated into the vaccine which when injected causes the body to produce antibodies.

1. It sounds like you are describing a fairly common, minor side effect of vaccination.
2. Pandemrix ( I assume this is the vaccine you received) is, technically, a split virion, inactivated preparation. It does not contain live virus - rather, it contains elements of the virus particle that have been killed.
3. Vaccination is delivered via the Intramuscular route, and takes up to around 14 days to develop the full immune response. The protective effects should then be operative for up to a year.
