Depression
7 Answers
I am experiencing symptoms of depression, and some people think that it could be early onset bipolar. I want to see my GP about it, but I don't want my parents to find out that I have been to see my doctor. My mother has not been supportive at all. I haven't raised the issue with her and when she discovered that I have self harmed before, she shouted at me and thought that ending it was as simple as making me promise not to do it again. I am NOT an attention seeker or jumping on the "emo" bandwagon, I am deeply ashamed of the fact that I have self harmed and just want to help myself. Should I go to see my GP?

Once you have seen your GP hopefully they will be able to advise you. When you know more you can then tell your mother what is going on. You may need counselling, but don't let that put you off, help is out there. Only the doctor can really tell you what is going on.
Take care, I hope you can get it sorted.

Hello kurt - only just read this....
I do hope you have given it more thought since reading the other helpful posts & will go back to see your GP. You could also explain to him/her that your Mother isn't very understanding &/or supportive. Very odd for a Mother, but she may just be afraid.
Please make an appointment asap, as doctors are there to help you.
I wish you well. -xx-
