A man had a daughter who suddenly became very ill, she had become melancholy and tired, worried he went to the local shamen, "have you got a dog?" the shamen asked.
"Yes" he replied.
"Then you must get rid of the dog."
"But he's a good dog" he protested.
"If you don't get rid of the dog then you're daughter will not get well." the shamen insisted.
The man went away, he didn't want to kill the dog but couldn't think what else to do, the next day he found a cave that was enclosed so the dog couldn't escape so he placed the dog there and everyday he went to attend to it.
Within days his daughter returned to health.

It turned out that the girl had an admirer, every night he'd call at her home to court her, but the dog woul bark and chase him away.
With the dog out the way their romance could blossom, one day the father went up to the cave to see the dog, only to discover it had died.
So, he buried the animal and placed it's head between it's back legs.
Later the daughter was married to her admirer and nine months later she gave birth to a dighter with a pony tail.
Mongolian folklore states that if you bury a dog with it's head between it's legs then it will be reborn as a girl with a pomy tail.
I do so like a happy ending. ;-))
