Hello All. Can anyone tell me the difference between Simvastatin and Atorvastatin?. My wife was on simvastatin but they made her feel generally poorly so her doc prescribed atorvastatin and they seem to be ok. So can anyone enlighten me?.

I found out the hard way that statins make me feel very ill. They were prescribed for me after a blood sugar test 'as a precaution'. I was told that the Atorvastatin would be fine because it was better and more expensive, but if anything, I felt worse. I took them back to the surgery and nearly came to blows with one of the doctors who was quite rude. We all have to die of something but I don't really see the point of being co-erced into taking medication which is not necessary and which makes you not want to get up in the morning because you feel so dreadful. What sort of life is that? I have now become very suspicious about why we should be prescribed any medication that is not essential and wonder whether there are 'targets' to be attained.
