Just in from dentist and have a small abscess inside my front tooth crown have had it for 3 weeks - that was the earliest appointment. Will get it removed this Friday but have to go back again - I was that nervous I did not ask what do I have to go back for the second time.

Also while I am on - does anybody know the benefits of taking Coq10 - I know it is for gums and I think I may start and take them. Thanks

Hi Connemmara ~ when that has happened to me the dentist doesn't usually have time in your first appt to 'do the necessary' so you need a longer appt fairly quickly as an abscess is a growing thing. He will probably take off the crown, remove and clear up round the abscess and replace the crown. He may also give you antibiotics 'just in case'. Your best bet, now that you are home and no longer in a state of nerves, would be to ring and speak to the receptionist, explain how nervous you were (a lot of people are) and ask if she could just explain to you what will happen on Friday. She might just keep you holding while she double checks with the dentist. Then you can relax and have no fears for Friday. Good luck. :0)

thanks Dustybun for your answer - no he gave me three options of which I can only remember 2 one of them was to take the crown off as you say and clean round and the other was to go into back of crown (while it is still on) and do the business. I opted for that one - God cant remember the 3rd one. Am tortured with my teeth and I have to pay for them but this is the front tooth and I will endeavour to hold on to them. Do you know anything about Coq10 - by the way I am that nervous I get knocked out so will be getting knocked out twice. My friend who was only 40 got her top and bottom teeth out and false ones put in - they (friends) keep telling me to get them out but I dont think I could cope (it would feel as if something was in your mouth)
I was proscribed valium for my recent trip to the dentist, perhaps this could be offered to you too?

Like you, i'm petrified of dentists and could (and very nearly do) cry each visit i make. The valium sort of calms your nerves, you're still obviously very much aware of what's going on, but don't mind as much. Infact it made me so brave that I asked if anything could be done about a join mark I had on a front, previously broken tooth whilst I was there.
Believe me, without that valium I wouldn't have dreamt of asking such a thing and i'd have been off that chair as soon as the necessary was done before you could blink.

Can't help with the Coq10 question i'm afraid.

thanks Boo - I am getting knocked out which does not completely knock you if you get my gist - you are aware but a bit whammy. I am so terrified of the dentist nobody knows - I have a friend who thinks I am dead brave but literally she does not understand how difficult it is for me. I am absolutely dreadful - as soon as I sit on the chair I begin to shake and he is only looking at them.
