Go to your GP. Applying yoghurt is a quick fix until you can get an appointment.
you can go to the chemist and get something such as canesten duo which is a cream and a tablet to sort that out :)
You can buy medication over the counter for thrush, the yogurt only cools the area down so dont think that it will cure the trush cos it wont, i suffer badly with thrush and BV and have dont so for many years, also your partner will need to be treated too, so make sure you use a condom during intercourse if it should take place, your partner might not think he is suffering with thrush but it dosnt always show its self in men. Good luck
As above....just go to the chemist.

i'd rather see my gp as i am a carer for my dad and get free prescriptions as i am unable to work in the normal way due to my caring role

would he be able to prescribe the cream/tablet/pessary or all 3 if needed?
Yes but you will prob have to have a swab done to determin that it is thrush, they wont just write you a prescription.

thats ok i dont mind a swab just wondered if my gp would do it as opposed to an sti clinic as my local one is 8 miles away and i dont really have the time or means to get there unless i had to so if my gp can do it it would help me a lot
the practice nurse can do it
Not to put the wind up you but its also worth getting screened for diabetes as this can be an early sign...its just a wee dip the nurse should be able to do that too.
Yes woofgang is right its possible it could be a sign, i was tested and clear, still dont know why to this day why i suffer so much with it though. x
I had a phase of this in my youth. I finally controlled it by going over to cotton underwear, cutting down the amount of sugar in my diet and drinking loads more water and washing "down there" with plain coolish water only to maintain the right ph. In the seventies when bidets were fashionable, I understand that they used to be implicated in thrush problems due to increased use of soap which make the skin more hospitable to yeast infections and less able to fight them off.
i've had it twice in my entire life and neither time did the doctor/nurse do a swab. i was just prescribed canestan and it went away. it's unlikely to be diabetes connected if it's just a one-off thing, more likely if it keep reoccuring although some ladies are just more susceptible to it.
I'm a guy and i caught it from my wife.....did you know it's damn hard to get rid of if you leave it to long.
Canesten is expensive about £20 but superdrug do the same, own make for about £6 and works exactly the same, one pill and that's it! Wear cotton knickers and no tight clothing!
Because i get it so regular i went in to my local chemist one day and gave them my prescription for Difucan and they told me not to worry about the prescription as there was a particular tablet which was only £3 odd behind the counter, so i bought it and by no time it had gone, not sure if all chemists stock it but if anyone wants the name i could get it for you.
