Lymph glands & lymphatic tissue in the breast of a 25 year old.

Strange question, but could a severe prolonged bout of all-over-body eczema - allergic eczema & infective at times, cause inflammation of these glands?

Reactive lymphadenopathy can occur usually in axillary (armpit) nodes with severe eczema not common though and may need a lymph node biopsy to confirm. Are any of the nodes elsewhere affected neck, groin are easiest to find

Probably best to be checked by dr with referral to specialist if indicated as 25 is not too young for other breast conditions

She had a lymph biopsy yesterday, with aspiration. Results next week. A week is a long time when you're worrying :-(

My son had an infection of the Lymph node (in his neck) at the age of 2. He was in hospital for a week. They did a biopsy but as they had put him straight onto intravenous anti biotics they couldn't find out what it was.

Thanks rowan and ummm. And sqad, thanks - very succinct but reassuring. I was hoping you'd see this post, but didn't want to address it to you solely as others' opinions and experiences are also welcome !!
She found a lump last week, examined & tested yesterday, results next week. The doc thought it was more lymphoedema (benign) rather than a lump. It is mobile, but the doc mentioned a size of around 9mm. Unfortunately she has a family history of breast cancer at the age of 53 in paternal grandmother.
Fingers crossed and prayers sent....

I know rowan - we all panic when it comes to ourselves and 'our own' don't we? Even if we would wholeheartedly reassure anyone else who was worrying.
I work in a GP surgery, and have worked in the NHS for 23 years.... I know the facts & figures & statistics & likelihoods.... but this is my girl we're talking about.

salla....I don't think that you mean lymphoedema. I think you meant lipoma, as this is mobile, a common condition and totally benign.

I did wonder about that sqad! But this is the term my daughter came out with - I wasn't actually in the consulting room with her at the time. She was quite sure he meant a problem to do with the lymph gland or tissue as opposed to a definite lump (or lipoma).

I was the bed manager for a major cancer centre...part of my job was finding beds for the ladies needing biopsies, lumpectomies etc... I had a dodgy mammogram and drove myself nuts until I had the all clear. i googled every possible worse case scenario and no matter how much I knew about the figures I dont think I slept for a week. All ok

Thanks rowan. I'd be less worried somehow if it were myself - breast cancer is not my greatest fear (I would be far more afraid of a brain tumour, pancreatic cancer etc) and I'm 48. 25 is far more worrying.
I'll let you know next week how she got on xx

Hi Salla,

My son had a severe bout of impetigo which, although not akin to eczema, obviously involved infected skin and this caused inflammation in his armit glands (as well as others).

Hope she is OK.

It's so difficult not to worry isn't it. We can be cool, calm and knowledgeable and dish out advice to others but when it comes to our own loved ones all sense goes out the window.
