What Is Wrong With My Belly Button Piercing?

I have had my belly button pierced for about 6 years now. I recently took it out and left it out for about a week because i had lost the ball to my bar & it was the only one i had. I put the bar through everyday and left it in for a bit to make sure it didn't close up. Now it absolutely kills me! It seems to be really tight & i think it is closing up! It only hurts when i have the bar in. The actual hole (the bit of skin the covers the bar) just goes red as soon as i put the bar in & it's really hard to put in & take it out. I have been cleaning it with salt water every day, just once a day. It just hurts & i want to know whats wrong & i really don't want it to close up. Help! x

It's infected..........(google 'infected' if you're not sure). You need to follow the sage advice already given about keeping it clean.

You have Bad AIDs Emily. Get yourself down the vets straight away, and phone up your bf in prison to let him know. He may have given it to you after getting bummed in the showers

I know it's stupid, but i'm just too scared to get it done again! I just want to know if there is any hope of it getting better whilst leaving the bar in! x

When you get cellulitis or worse the skin will be left all scarred and discoloured and you won't want anyone to see it .....

I think i am just going to leave it out :( i can see from what alot of you have said, i won't regret it. I have heard it's supposed to hurt more when you get it repierced but oh well. It wasn't even pierced in the middle anyways lol. Omg i'm so sad about it, i look Sugar without it in! x

Sweetheart if you look rats without a tiny sliver of metal in your gut, then I'd hazard a guess and say you probably look rats with it in as well

If you think a little metal bar is what makes the difference between you looking good or bad then you have far deeper issues to deal with!

It is quite strange though. When you're used to seeing yourself with it in then take it out...it just looks weird.
