Eye surgery

I was pushed past the waiting list to have my left eye operated on as I had a cataract removed which he said was unusual so I'm now witing for the same on my right eye, which isn't as bad.
When I ent to the surgery for Diabetes and Chronic Disease annual check up the nurse told me he hd done the left eye so quickly because there was also a Pseudo Fakir...now I've obviously got the fakir bit wrong but that is what it sounded like.
Can anyone help Mr Stupid please

pseudophakia is just the fact that you have an intraocular lens implant following cataract surgery.

The most common reason for having the second eye done soon after the initial eye is if there is a large difference in the prescriptions of the right and left eye following the first surgery. For example if you were very longsighted pre-op (e.g +6.00 R&L) and when you had one eye done they left you with perfect distance vision in the 'new' eye. You would have difficulties using both eyes together due to the differnce in image size using a pair of glasses with clear glass in one side and a +6.00 in the other.

I think I read your original post incorrectly and it is that you actuallt had your first eye done quickly and have to wait for the second. This is sometimes done for those that are drivers, working age, carers (or have dependants) or are at risk of other complications.

I'm glad you've got some sensible answers, but your comment about a Pseudo Fakir in your eye certainly made me laugh!
