If I eat nothing but fruit, vegetables & fish for the next fortnight, and severely restrict my alcohol intake. If I walk 2 miles every night. If I cut out the butter, bacon & fats, will I lose a stone in those 2 weeks?

Yeah probably, or kill yourself through depression.
possibly, but you'll be a right miserable cow!

what about breakfast?
Question Author
Ok then. Sod it. Croissant please. Happiness is paramount.
Just thought I'd ask.... ;-)
Sensible woman.... because if you do that you will put it straight back on and then some....
Question Author
Seriously though - the above would not exactly be a severe 'crash' diet would it? I mean - fruit, veg, fish, less fats, less alcohol & sugars. Surely that is sensible - if I were to actually manage it (which I won't).

It's not like surviving on celery sticks & cabbage soup & exercising like a possessed buckfummad?
You don't need to restrict yourself to fish, turkey and pork are low in fat. A stone in 2weeks is a lot to lose. Exercise a bit more to tone up, dance, swim, clench your bum whilst waiting for the bus(remember to unclench). Alcohol does affect eating habits so it may be a good idea to restrict it... For 2 wks only mind!
Question Author
Toni - it is difficult for me to restrict my alcohol to less than 2 (glasses) a day - never mind severely restrict it for 2 weeks. I blame my friends (Lil & Tara are extremely bad influences) & the stress of just having to survive each day....!

I clench my bum cheeks all the time (usually due to wind & being in public), I dance most nights (sad I know...) and would swim if I had more time & didn't feel such of a whale.

Life is hard :-(
pfft, at life is hard, Get a grip woman!

(hate melodramatics in the morning :P)
salla, as a short term plan it might just work, but you can't expect to keep the weight off once you've gone back to your "normal" eating/drinking habits!

but if it's for an event, go for it! I'd suggest some fruit though, but do clench ;o)
Its not swimming thats the problem its the wobbly walk to the water....
In that case, I say bugger the diet and enjoy yourself! That's why God invented tummy control knickers (I say God, but Gok Wan does a fantastic range, corsets, knicks, bras and bodys)xoxo

Boo - I love your philosophy ! And of course, you are quite correct. I am only being tongue in (clenched) cheek......

Sara - I overdid the cherries the other day, with dire consequences following a bout of gastroenteritis. It is for a pending holiday, not just one event. A holiday which will involve much sailing swimming & walking, but also a hell of a lot of eating & drinking - so what you're saying is: I may as well not bother? OK!

One can only try one's best.
I'd say it's worth a go but.. the cherries go to show you have no self-control! just a handful would have been fine!

I have a friend at work who eats yoghurts, soups and general healthy stuff for 2 weeks leading to anything.. seems to work for her.
Question Author
You've hit the proverbial nail on the head sara - my problem is I have an almost complete lack of willpower / self-control. In Layman's terms: I'm lazy / greedy / easily led...

I will try yoghurts (do those clotted cream ones count?), fish & veg. And clear gin or white wine. And what about Ducolax for ease of passage?
lol.. who needs laxatives when you have cherries?
No.
Question Author
No - the clotted cream yoghurts don't count as healthy?
or no - I won't lose a stone in 2 weeks, even by being ultra sensible?

Oh well, I'll stay voluptuous, curvy, and a 'handful' then..... It doesn't seem to have done me much harm these last few years ;-)

Morning sqadlet xx
Morning salla, my love........the "old lady" is back. ;-(
Question Author
Bless her. Has she behaved herself whilst away with that dreadful influential trollop DofG?

Or more pertinently - have YOU behaved yourself? Daft question....
The plan you selected is very low carb...if you want to do it add eggs, and some meat as suggested and don't be afraid to use a little fat...Also recommend some soya either soya yoghurt or soya milk Try putting some ground flaxseeds in a soya/fruit milkshake raspberries blend well you won't need any other help
f-laxative due to the fibre...
