Simvastatin and leg cramp
3 Answers
Hi
For about 4 years now I have been on medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. This is Lisinopril, Bendroflumethiazide and Simvastatin. Approx 2 months ago the Simvastatin was increased from 10mg to 20mg per day.
I have been experiencing some leg pain and cramp in calf muscles usually at night. Is the increase in Simvastatin likely to be the cause of this?
I am also on Mebeverine for IBS and also take a vitamin supplement of Vit C and zinc daily.

My doctor then tried me on Pravastatin, and again, the same thing happened. I then tried Exetrol for the cholesterol and this has done the trick, with no back pain being felt. I am also taking Bendroflumethiazide.
Apparently Simvastatin is known for causing muscle cramps.
