Surplus milk sustitute.Pregestimil

My daughter's baby had a severe Milk Intolerance and had to be put on the above substitute for quite a long time . However she made a recovery and was able to go on to normal foods . That was great but what to do with the dozen or more unopened sealed tins . with a use by date of Oct 2011.
Can they be returned to the chemist or must they be dumped. It seems a terrible waste of a perfect product.

Good news to hear that your daughters condition has improved.
The chemist will have to destroy the tins, despite being sealed, upopened and in date.
This is true of all medicines which are returned by a patient.

We had some sterile sealed dressings left over following a severe accident some years ago. We made contact with a Chernobyll Charity, who were absolutely thrilled to take them for use in Chernobyll. Would you consider this?

Cailin Can I find them in Google ? I've just discovered they cost about £20 each so its a terrible waste if I can't find them a home . Unfortunately they are heavy 400g each so the postage would be a lot . They would weigh about 8kg. I wonder if a charity shop, like Oxfam . would take them .

Ask one of the charities which sends aid or Christmas boxes to children in Roumania or Africa - they'll be sending stuff out in a container soon, no need to mail it yourself. Save the Children, something like that - contact them through their website. The flood relief people in Pakistan will be working with devastated families for months to come, it might be useful to them too, Oxfam are working out there (amongst many others). I wouldn't think taking them to the charity shop is the answer unless they have a way of sending things back up the line to the Relief centres - asking through the websites would be a good place to start.
