I had similar problems with my lower front teeth. One was practically behind the other and the front one looked like it might pop out the front of my gum eventually. It was impossible to floss and the gums often bled.
Depending on the exact nature of your problem, different options are open to you. Once I saw my x rays there was a lot more going wrong with the orientation of my teeth under the gums, so it was just going to get worse. My course of treatment was to have a mixture of train track braces, a removable brace, removable retainers and a permanent retainer to keep it all in place once it's finished. I'll be paying about £6000 over two years all in all. Because its cosmetic, you can't have it done on the NHS, so as its done privately thats why the cost is so high.
Only 1 year into my plan I can really see the difference its making and my teeth and gums are so much healthier now. Ask for an initial consultation with the orthodontist and see what they recommend for you.
