Increased sensitivity to heat

More of a curiosity question really.

I've noticed recently that my hands seems to be much more sensitive to hot water.

When I get in the shower and test the water with my hands, it feels way to hot and they feel like they are burning, whereas, when I turn it down and get the rest of me in, it's too cool. I can turn it back up and it's fine on the rest of me but my hands still feel like they are burning under it.

Just struck me as a bit wierd and never noticed it before, are your hands (or do they get) more sensitive to heat, maybe more with age?
