Medised - why was it changed to 6yrs plus?
37 Answers
As I am having difficulty with my baby sleeping at the moment a friend jokingly told me to give him some medised as it contains a sedative. I have actually used it before when my daughter was a toddler (but not to get her to sleep, never needed to) and forgotten about it but I know it used to be from 3mths but now its 6yrs! Why the big age change? And should I consider it?!

i still have some in cupboard that i am using for my 3 and 5 year olds and as i know they werent affected by it before and formula hasnt changed then i will still use it.
they were withdrawn from use as there was suggestions that they didnt work and that they may cause harm.
knowing a few parents who seemed to use it as a way to keep kids quiet and calm and sleeping through may also have had some bearing on why the age was changed :(

if you are considering using it for your son tigwig then please ensure dosage is as was advised when in use for younger children
Paracetamol 120 mg, Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 12.5 mg per 5ml spoon.
according to this http://www.mumsnet.co...Dozol-is/AllOnOnePage
The original doses for the 3 months+ Medised are:
Under 12 months: half to one 5ml spoonful 3-4 times a day
12 months to 6 years: one to two 5ml spoonfuls 3-4 times a day
6 years to 12 years: two to four 5ml spoonfuls 3 times a day
You nust leave at least 4 hours beteen doses and give no more than 4 doses in 24 hours
but i wouldnt use it for its sedative properties alone.
