Hey everyone x
Im not on a diet as such, im eating sensibly, being careful with fat and calories but not watching them religiously, as i want to lose weight but not tell myself im on a diet and rule out yummy stuff too much.
My question is, if i am truely hungry in the evening, proper tummy rumbling not emotionalk hunger, can i eat?? Or will it mean i will store the fat i eat or calories and mean my body wont burn any at night?
I find im starving come about 9-10pm and want to eat, just some cereal or toast, but i dont want to ruin all my hard work if im gonna store it as fat.
Thanks xx
The purists will tell you that you shouldn't eat after 7pm but that's not practical for most of us. Are you sure you are hungry, not thirsty? I find a big glass of water at this time of night fills me up, and stops me feeling hungry.
if you feel so hungry then eat something, but avoid carbs and fats after about 5pm. try to eat just protein, then your body won't store!................
I looked at those smoothies today in sainsburys, the carbs in them are ridiculous and the sugar content is almost half your daily allowance! Not as good as they sound.
I was thinking a bowl of cereal, or toast would curb my rumbly stomach. Trying to lose weight sucks!
My 49 yr old brother who regularly runs and his better half mostly eat after nine in the evening due to their busy work and social schedule but there's hardly a crumb of fat on them. They do eat healthily but also endulge in full fat cheeses and still get away with it ... bustards! lol
It doesn't really make a difference what time you eat, it's all about what you eat. If you exercise a bit and eat a higher protein and high fibre diet you will lose weight, but saying that, some people have the fat gene and will always turn to fat no matter what.
for a long time now all of my family members & myself have only been buying long life skimmed milk & often if we are getting hunger pangs we will have a bowl of cornflakes (delicious with raisins or sliced banana ) but do not add sugar.Ron.
Oh! yes....can´t remember where I have seen the studies ....BUT at night the digestive system, secreting of enzymes and acid secretion is slowed down and acid stasis and or regurgitation may well be a problem. On this basis it is inadvisable to ear late at night.
There is also another reason....but I cannot remember it LOL
Cereal`s full of sugar and salt. I find a couple of spoonfull`s of low fat hommos does the trick. If you`re hungry you should eat. I wouldn`t be able to sleep if I was hungry.
I eat in the middle of the night at work all the time. It doesn`t seem to have done any harm to me. Maybe that`s because I`m active during the night though.
But eating late at night doesn't affect weight loss although there are a number of other reasons ...one is to do with glycaemic index and an odd effect on sleep patterns..I think its to do with drops in blood sugar increasing the risk of waking
