psoriasis treatments?
8 Answers
Good morning all.
Does anyone have any experience of psoriasis please? I have it on my elbows and two round patches of it on my leg. Two years ago my gp gave me some ointment and although I applied it as prescribed, it didn't help much. I seem to be having a sort of flare up at the moment-elbows like elephant's kneecaps and the leg patches look raw. I am also wondering whether, if ones immune system is a bit 'down' (just had a bout of flu) can this affect the psoriasis?
I don't really want to bother my doc with what may seem a trivial thing so I am wondering if anyone has tried self-treatments that have worked for them, either ointments available over the counter or herbal remedies. It says that sunlight can help but there's not much chance of me exposing me legs in January!!
I would be so grateful for any advice please

Over the years I've tried most stuff from this side of the counter but always end up at the docs. - SYNALAR always does it for me. But yes you do need a prescription.

Thanks for that Jemista and Sqaddles. So, you can get Synalar over the counter hey? I will definitely give it a go. And Jemista, yeah-I did think that being a bit 'run down' could worsen the condition. D'you think my doctor would prescribe a holiday in the sun so that I can build up my strength and top up my vitamin D? Lol.
Thanks again guys xx

Well, Ummm, that's encouraging! I am so glad your psoriasis has cleared up! I can well believe that it can be stress related-I get a bit of the old S.A.D. and Mr Mazzywoo and myself have recently been laid low by a nasty flu bug. So yeah, stressful time!
Jemista-If my doc can prescribe a sun-filled vacation on the NHS (even with all the cuts!) I will let you know and you can register with her. I am now 60+ and consequently don't pay for a 'scip, so the holiday would be a total freebie LOL. So I could sit on a beach and show off my scabby legs :( Sorry to hear about your GP Jemista!
Thanks again for all your replies-very helpful :) xx

Hello! I was diagnosed with psoriasis 5 years ago. Psoriasis is a chronic disease, therefore you can't cure it just treat it and control the symptoms. For me, it was really difficult to accept it. I've tried lots of treatments and the one that has helped me with my Psoriasis are DermalMD treatments.
