Can you please advise? My grand-daughter, age 10, is forever having time off from school because `she doesn`t feel well` and again she is off to-day, admittedly when my O/H and I visited yesterday she had a temperature and a sore throat, but other times I think she is just too lazy, like her mother, whom deserted them over a year ago for another woman. Could it be she is pining for the bitch, or could it be tonsillitis?

I suppose it could be tonsillitis, but I suspect that you are asking if it could be recurrent tonsillitis, indicating need for removal........I cannot say carlton.
As for the emotional bit...as you know....I don´t do emotion, but there will be plenty of posters, mainly female, who will give you advice.

If she's got a sore throat and a temperature she shouldn't be at school.
Very very unlikely to have a psychological cause.
If:
1. her Mum has vanished
2. all she hears about her Mum is that she is a 'bitch'
3. she is accused of being too lazy and like her bitch of a mother
then I expect that she 'feels unwell' quite a lot of the time.
I would.
She's 10 for goodness sake.

TBH from what you are describing, this episode sounds like a genuine illness, but we only have your thoughts about the pthers, so there could be a psychologoical element. I know this is uncalled for advice, but as much as you might hate the mum for presumably causing your son (?) a lot of heartache, she will always be the mother of your grandchildren, and as such it will probably help things if you remain civil about her when you are around them (perhaps you are?) She has clearly hurt you a lot too, but you have to remember there are always 2 sides to a story, and no-one knows what goes on in a marriage apart from the peope in it
bednobs.....you have mistaken what I meant.
I know that carlton mentioned it in his post BUT....my point is........because she says she has a sore throat..........is she telling the truth?....that is my point.
How many times have kids said.
"Ive got a headache"
" I feel sick"
"I don´t feel well"
"I´ve got stomach ache"
"I´ve got a sore throat"
That is my point....because she says she has it deosnt mean that she has.....we are al assuming that she has.

salla....carlton is my era........people do run off....heterosexually would have been bad enough, but homosexually would have been unheard of. I do not want to go into whether she went off with a woman is worse than running off with a man TODAY, but it was in carlton´s era.
