I hear it's uncomfortable rather than painful. But they squash your breasts between two plates. Breast screening is a wonderful thing, and good to know that in our area now they have extended the age limit to include those in their late 40's (I am not 50 yet - that used to be the starting age).

Any tips for me ladies? Should I have a gin beforehand?

its worse if you have small boobs appparently
Sal, my missus hates the darned things - had one recently and she suffered but then again she does have more than a handful, so to speak.
salla.....mrs sqad has fabulous t1ts.........she had a mammogram by a young male technician in Menorca about a year ago and she said he was the best, quickest and less painful ever. I think she meant the mammogram

Dont be a sissy.....get èm out.

I'm used to having my chest looked at and probed - but that's always been by cardiologists.

Sqad, please don't debase them by calling them t1ts, so coarse - they are breasts.

I am neither huge nor small rowan - 38C.

And vibra - I would agree to that if you can make it a pecan plait x
it will be fine...and it might save your life
rowan

The breast clinic at our local DGH are absolutely fantastic - even if other parts of the hospital are to be desired... I went there with my daughter last year if you all remember, she has a strong family history of her paternal side of Ca breast, and she had found a lump at the age of 25. They were fantastic.

I'm not particularly nervous, just wondered. And Anne, maybe I could rub the gin in my boobs rather than drink it - but I would have a direct referral maybe to the liver unit?!!
Its not painful Salla - just a bit uncomfortable, but its over in a flash. I had my last one in November - I arrived at the hospital looking all flushed and harrassed - the receptionist said to me 'don't worry my love, it doesn't hurt'. I said 'Oh its not the mammogram thats the problem, my 21 year old son has just dropped me off in his car' she said 'I feel your pain' (;0 (

lol den.

"Unnecessary breast surgery" sqad - explain?
-- answer removed --
With the amount of follow up scans, needle aspirations and core biopsies very little non essential surgery is done....I know because entering breast MDT data is pretty much all I've been doing for the last few days
rowan....mmmmmmm!
go jump in your pool and cool down sqad
They have most probably told you Salla, but don't wear spray deodorant or talcum powder - but apparently you can wear a roll on deodorant.
Question Author
Yup - I have rolled on my roll-on.
When I asked for a deodorant they asked if wanted ball roll-on. I said "no, under arm"
It hurts like hell doesnt it Salla, especially if you are a bit big busted and lots of fat in that area, like me at the moment. Sorry to put you fellas off
But well worth while. I couldnt wait to have my first one as you do worry about these things as a friend of mine died from breat cancer at the age of 42.
