Can anyone help? My mother who is 85 has very dry skin, but I have noticed that her scalp is extremely scurfy, not just a bit a lot. We have changed to a hypoallergic shampoo some time ago but it isn't any better, she eats fruit everyday so she is getting vit C. I think we shall have to try another shampoo - anyone any ideas?

I use T-Gel shampoo, it smells a bit clinical but it works. My mum's skin was very dry too, she used to get E45 cream - the doc used to give her a great big tub on prescription. worth asking.
Try Dove Pro-Age Shampoo and also Conditioner.Ron.
Dry skin, wispy hair..........tired?apathetic? tired? gravelly voice?

See her GP as she may well have an underactive thyroid.
Try a baby shampoo for cradle cap
Maybe Polytar shampoo may help
I would take her to the GP, i know people with similar symptoms and it has been a fungal infection (sounds horrible but it just looks like extremely flakey scalp).

Try coal tar shampoo:

Thanks all for advice. Sqad - when I read your answer to my mother to ask if she was apathetic she laughed and said definitely not, which is true. Will try new shampoo and if it does not work will go to GP. Thanks again.
Bananas can be used to treat dry skin on your face and neck. Just mash a banana (ripe ones work better) and apply it like a face pack. After some time wash your face with warm water.
