It's really irritating me. I've bathed my left eye regularly, but it doesn't seem to have improved.

Does anyone know if you can still purchase over the counter cream as I refurse to bother my doc.

You need something coz I don't understand what refurse means.
You can get OTC eyedrops for it with an antibiotic in that will clear it up easily. Ask for Chloamphenicol eye drops, the commercial one that is usually for sale is Optrex infected eye eye drops. I had it last year and these sorted it.

lol moonie, just testing :)

Thanks woof, Offski to the chemist later then. (I hate eye drops, can just about tolerate the eye-bath and swirling about)
What's your technique? Once i had worked out to put the drop in the inner corner of the eye while looking up and out, it became easier. Don't tip your head back very far, pull the lower lid in and down in the inner corner of the eye to make a pouch to catch the drop then blink loads.
Question Author
Similar woof, but I think I tilt my head back too far (as if I'm trying to get away from it. I think I'll wimp out and get my OH to do it.

I tend to blink when the drop lands therefore I shut the drop out, which is both pointless and a waste of the medication.
How do you make a blonde's eyes light up? Shine a flashlight in her ear.

how do'u make a bloke get an erection - stick a torch up his ar......chooo
Just a minor after thought.............do we know it is conjunctivitis?
Question Author
It flares up every couple of years so I presume it is, however I'll ask my pharmacists for his/her opinion and take it from there.

Thanks sqad x
Don't hesitate to see your doctor, it could be something more sinister, your sight is important, get down and see the GP as soon as possible.
Question Author
I know you're right jd, but.... :(

I might just have to gird my loins so to speak
alba,,,,just before you see your GP, are you getting any discharge (sticky or otherwise) and does it itch?
Question Author
Yep sticky discharge, occasionally covering the iris (which makes looking in the mirror quite interesting)T
this morning no crust on the eyelid when wakening which was quite nice.

It's difficult for me to describe, but not really an itch as one has on skin but more of a "rub me" instruction and trying not to rub it is difficult
alba..thanks...sounds definitely like conjunctivitis.

Antibiotic drops or chloromycetin opth ointment will soon clear it up.
Question Author
At least at my age I can do sensible stuff to prevent it spreading to the other eye :D

Many thanks sqad, I'll report back x
Question Author
Bought the cream yesterday afternoon and it is easing.

In view of other ab'ers problems, my trivia can go to the back of the cupboard.

Many thanks to everyone xx However, I'll now have to think of another excuse for missing letters or adding letters to postings :)
alba...well played "you know it makes sense" ;-)
