Does anyone on here take the medication 'Gabapentin' for relief of aching leg related to having sciatica? I have been on these tablets for about 4/5 years now after having a fleuroscoptic injection in my back which didn't give me any relief at all. I just wondered if you could become immune to its effect as I don't seem to get much relief from it now.

pips sorry, but your question started "does anyone take the medicine Gabentin" and I don´t.

One doesnt get "immune" to pain killers as such, but I do know what you mean.
I have to presume that your sciatica has been investigated e.g MRI scan and that has, or dismissed the possibility of a prolapsed intervertebral disc.

In direct answer to your question, it is not uncommon for the effects of pain killers to wear off, but there are other alternatives.

I would suggest you see your GP

Thanks for your response sqad, I do appreciate it and sorry I started the question misleadingly, I don't like to bother you directly. I did have an MRI scan and the result was I had degenerative wear and tear in my lower spine (more appropriate to someone much older than I was) and one disc was bulging and pressing on the sciatic nerve. I was told an operation wouldn't help and after the injection failed to give relief I was left with walking a lot and the medication. I will go and see my GP though, I just was putting it off as I don't want the injection again.
