A question for the male ABankers (and any ladies that want to add their views). Do you think that thongs showing above the very low hipster jeans that young ladies wear these days look attractive.
This is the link that prompted my question:

The thong has proved to me the point that women do not dress up and wear makeup for themselves, as so many always assert, but for other people. Why else would such an impractical garment be embraced so readily by the fairer sex when the only beneficiary of this item being worn is the spectator. Ditto for all lingerie.
I bet that this current thong trend was engineered and marketed by men and that women have been brainwashed into thinking it's a female innovation.
kempie, i think you'll find that thongs aren't as impractical as you claim: they cause me no discomfort whatsoever and i prefer them to "normal" underwear.
the thong-showing-over-the-jeans thing is often supposed to be a sexy fashion statement, but much of the time it's because jeans are becoming lower slung across the hips; however many places sell hipster thongs to help with the unsightly situation that can arise as a result of the combination.
however, french knickers are still the best
Thongs (groan) sorry, thanks for this Q FP!!! Thought I was turning into an old fuddy duddy over this one, I love pretty undies & yes magicdice French knicks are much sexier, but under my jeans it's the comfy cotton briefs.
londondave's given me a good idea, where are my scissors? - Here comes the phantom thong thnipper!
What I find more strange is the trend towards hipster jeans. I find that the general effect is to bisect a woman's body in the wrong place, and throw their proporations out of whack.
Moreover, I dislike the fact that these jeans mean that so many women end up displaying a roll of flab. And I'm not just talking about overweight women either - even a slim woman can end up with a roll of lard because these stupid things cut their bodies in the wrong place.
Not designed by someone who likes women's bodies, as far as I can see.
From a female point of view I think showing your thong above your jeans is disgraceful! It looks awful! I wear thongs (though have to agree with magicdice french knickers are the best) but if I bend over or crouch or sit down I always check that they're where they should be...hidden! Underwear should be hidden beneath clothes. Mystery is much more sexier!
I don't care what underwear people have on,I just don't want to see it. Wearing sexy underwear can make you feel better, even if no one is going to see it and you can get sexy, comfortable under things.
I honestly don't see the appeal of thongs though. Fair enough, they may be practical, but they make *everyones* bum look huge. There's no fabric to cover up the cheeks so even the skinniest size 6 can have a bum that looks flabby. Fact.
guys, you're obviously not girls aged 15-25ish. hipster jeans are a fashion thing - it's actually pretty difficult to get any other style without looking really outdated; not that i've tried to find anything else, i find that these jeans are just about the only sort that fit me properly, since any jeans that don't just perch on my hipbones look really ill-fitting above this point, since there would probably be a large gap between me & the waistband! however, i maintain my original point that hipster thongs DO exist, and should be worn in situations where (inadvertent) underwear-flashing may occur, such as hipster jeans that are too loose.
