Is "duty of care" part of "the code" or are they 2 completley separate issues? thanks julie

not a nurse but an ex NHS professional (Occupational Therapist) My professional understanding is that "duty of care" outweighs everything else apart from patient choice, which is in itself a part of duty of care.
So while nothing in any professional code would contradict "duty of care" where there is a contradiction then duty of care wins out BUT it might be duty of care to the majority of a group as opposed to an individual.
