Diclofenic dosage

I've had Diclofenic (50mg) before for back pain. As no doubt it'll take some time for me to get a docs appointment to ask for some more (pain returned with a vengeance!) would it be safe for me to take 4 Voltarol as opposed to the 2 you're meant to take? Each tablet is 12.5mg so 4 would take me up to the 50mg I've had before. Or doesn't it work like that? Normal painkillers not doing anything :(

I would not. The leaflet with your medication should tell you about maximum doses, and these are strong medicine. You could do yourself more harm than good. http://www.drugs.com/dosage/diclofenac.html

Can you not phone your doctor, explain the problem and ask for a prescription to be sent to your local chemist?

That's a thought, or go to the local surgery and fill in a repeat prescription form - you don't necessarily have to see the doc, if you have had them before.

buffy....what is the difference in taking one 50 mgm tablet against taking 4*12.5 mg tablets?...............the dose is exactly the same.

Fair do's - I thought perhaps you should only be taking the 50mg stat under medical supervision.

While awaiting back surgery, I was prescribed 50mg diclofenac THREE times daily with no ill effects.

I think buffymad has bought the voltarol pain eeze tabs over the counter... as per usual when a medication comes off prescription only it is sold in a lower dose form
