Why do some friends and even family just spontaneously cut you out of their life without warning or reason ? Make excuses not to see you or to be busy and no matter how much you make the effort to see them or make contact - it is all futile...

Yes....just move on. Don't waste your time.....
i make effort and i feel bad sometimes when i havnt been to see someone for a while but then i think, sod them they know where i live. So if they dont make the effort too i drop them :-)
Selfishness?

I agree to just move on, but there is just no rhyme or reason to it, especially if you are not even given the chance to 'put right' whatever went wrong - but to go from being best of friends to like they never knew you is totally bizarre...I have seen it happen so many times to different people and I am so glad I am not like that....I believe in given someone the chance to make amends no matter what...but then not everyone is me ....or thinks like i do.
So is this a reaction to some sort of incident or are you unaware of an reasons for this?

Nooooo R1, nothing has happened, not to me, just a few friends over the weekend and I had a chat about all this and i was surprised how often it has happened to some of them, to just get cut out of someones life....

It must be awful Sandra, depends how 'thick skinned' we are as individuals I suppose, but it must really hurt...not knowing, just left out....I dont see any reason other than they cant think much of that person to do such a cold thing....
they don't like you any more, or you said something to upset them
I've had a few friends where we have grown apart over the years, and keeping in touch doesn't seem viable after a bit. Only one has suddenly stopped getting in touch, but I can't say I mind that much. I won't run after them.
there will be a reason, some people do something that completely alienates someone but with no idea what they did and the alienated person just needs to cut them out.

That's obvious Bedknobs, but again, 'they dont like you anymore' is such a way out there thing ....you just dont stop liking someone for no reason..

sorry if you thought my answer was obvious. I also thought the answer was obvious, but didn't know if you did as you had asked the question
Talking of friends (sorry to hijack your thread PP) - did you ever sort things out with your friend who visited you at Xmas, Bednobs?
no, i was a complete coward and didn't say/do anything at all. He lives some way away, so haven't seen him since
-- answer removed --
That's a shame you never got it sorted bednobs, but I can understand - I'd probably have avoided the issue too :)
sorry, purple, I didn't mean to imply that you were chasing up - I realise you weren't - I know I wouldn't. You give it a try, it's obviously not reciprocated for whatever reason. As they say - nowt so queer as folks.
I haven't seen or spolen to my brother for about 16 years. His wife slammed the door in my face.
(She's an only chilld) He's now 63, I tried to get in touch over the past 4 years but nothing came back. I made the effort. No skin off my nose.
