I had a filling put in about 16 months ago, which at the time I didn't think was that well done... and the other day it fell out, leaving a sharp and ragged tooth underneath.
My last check-up was six months ago, and no problems were highlighted then.
I'm just wondering where I stand - I would have expected a filling to have lasted a lot longer than that. What are the dentist's responsibilities in this situation - if this now needs a crown or an extraction, I'm not really going to be happy paying for the former or losing the latter.
Well unless the dentist warned you it might not last or you've bitten down hard on something it doesn't seem very long at all. I think you need to make an appt asap before the tooth breaks and tell your dentist about your disappointment calmly, even if you don't feel calm! :o) Hopefully they may just agree to re-do it.
