My GP has just given me Ibuprofen (400mg), Co Codamol (30/500), diazepam (2mg) and amitriptyline (10mg) for sciatica. With the exception of taking the diazepam during the day and the amitriptyline at night I have to take them all together.
Like Karen I had sciatica and was given diazepam 2mg as required, Co-codamol 30/500 (2 four times daily), Diclofenac 50mg (1 three times daily) and Tramadol 100mg (4 times daily). After a week my back felt fine but my stomach felt terrible. I went privately for craniosacral therapy thankfully got fixed and dumped the tablets.
sqad - my boyfriend just nipped to the chemist for me and the woman refused to sell him ibuprofen an aspirin togther as she said it contains aspirin too and will make you feel ill an give tummy pains...??
If you need that much in combination go back as yousound like you need something either stronger or with a different action... what sort of pain...? One thing that might be worth trying is changing the co deine/paracetamol for a version designed for tension headaches like syndol as they can make you a bit dopey/relaxed but instead of....not as well as...and remember to check the paracetamol content of everything you take and no more than 4 grams in any 24 hour period we don't want another AB visit to the liver unit
BTW both aspirin and ibuprofen can give you heartburn type symptoms but for completely different reasons
my diabetic hubby developed a carbunckle on one of his kidneys & was peeing blood thru taking Ibruprofen and was hospitalised for a week and banned from ever taking them again, but can take all the others okay.
DeeSa......not wanting to denigrate the medical staff but supporting the use of Ibuprofen, it is far more likely that the "peeing blood" would be more likely due to the kidney carbuncle rather than the Ibuprofen.
Again Im agreeing with Sqad, a lot of medication yes but a combination that can work together. I wouldnt recommend long usage though, keep antacids available!
