Prolapsed disc
2 Answers
I have two prolapsed discs (for about 3 years now) in my lumbar spine that have worn away. I've recently injured my back (strained muscles) after a trip/fall. Could this have made matters worse, as far as my existing back problem is concerned ?

All you can do is specific back exercises every day to strengthen your back and stomach muscles, so that it is stronger and won't give way at every hurdle. Lots of fellow back sufferers say they have to do their exercises every day to be pain-free. The best one that I like is lying on the floor, and pulling the small of your back into the ground, and holding it for 10 secs. Youc an also pull your lower stomach muscles in sat at a desk, and hold for 10 secs. Look online for others or ask your Doctor to refer you to the Physio.
Even now after nearly 5 weeks after the accident I am still experiencing unremittent pain, that seems to contradict the symtoms of muscle strain, where the recovery period is supposed to be 7 -10 days. I am wondering, could my existing back problem make this recovery period (stated above) longer? Or could it have worsened the problem altogether ?
