Is it possible? I have a lot of stress at the moment and thought I could spot the warning signs but none seen yet... I feel like a bomb on a timer.

I had a breakdown about 30 years ago during a messy divorce. Inside I was all over the place, but externally I bet most people would have had no idea I was heading for a breakdown.

Breakdowns can take all sorts of forms, and the "signs" can vary from person to person.

Some people start eating too much, others stop eating, some people cant sleep, others spend all day in bed and so on.

A feeling I had was wanting to "run away from it all". I found myself looking up at aeroplanes, wishing I was on them, flying somwhere else.

If you fell that bad I would do something about it BEFORE you have a breakdown. Go see your GP (though they are not that great at dealing with these sorts of problems).

Or try to change whatever it is that is causing the stress (you dont actually say what that is so this may not be easy to do).

But at least you recognise you MAY be heading for one, and that is a good sign

Unfortunately, the 'symptoms' can be quite complex, and can be psychological, physical and social. You will probably start to lose interest in things you once enjoyed, and maybe start to isolate yourself from others.
Feelings of hopelessness, or low self-esteem. No motivation to do anything, whether that be getting out of bed in the mornings, work, or socialising.
Things like losing your appetite can also be a symptom and also sleep patterns. You may find that you have trouble getting to sleep at night, due to things playing on your mind.
I would strongly advise you to see your GP, or even a counsellor, before you get to the stage of actually having some form of breakdown. Good luck :)
My marriage has broken up after 29 years, complete shock to me. Im under the care of my gp Iggle. You need someone to determine if your going through a breakdown. I had a breakdown years ago following the deaths of my parents and all I wanted to do was lie in bed. I lost interest in absolutely everthing and everyone but with the help if my gp and the right medication I gradually recovered. I wish luck. china.
